eKamria had the opportunity to attend the first JoomlaDay in Atlanta, Georgia in April.
The day was full of great speakers. Jason Weathersby of Mozilla spoke about their direction to provide a Firefox OS for mobile -- with a goal of allowing low-cost smartphones to have the functionality and access of their more expensive cousins.
One of the presenters spent the day walking around with Google glasses on. (You actually don't see the glasses after awhile!)
There was a great turnout for this first time event in Atlanta -- over 150 attendees. We met in person some of the people we have communicated with through Joomla! groups on LinkedIn and shared approaches for our projects.
Polished Geek, a Joomla! agency from North Carolina, presented two very valuable sessions. The first topic was tips for appropriately planning and estimating projects. They use a very interesting approach using "user stories" -- an approach we will put in practice. The second session was titled "How to Survive your next eCommerce Project." Polished Geek specializes in eCommerce in the Joomla! world, so this was a very useful session.
As always, the best part of the conference was meeting other Joomla! practitioners. This is a community of very nice, helpful people. Everyone is always willing to share their experience, advice and assistance in exchange for others to continue to do the same.
