eKamria is now responsive
With the explosion of devices available to view websites, responsive design has become the standard for new website development.
eKamria has recently refreshed its website, including a new responsive design. All new websites designed by eKamria will be responsive (and have been since early 2013).
It is important to understand that "mobile" websites and "responsive" websites are not the same thing. There are a number of advantages to a responsive site:
The difference between mobile and responsive design
Mobile | Responsive |
---|---|
Maintenance | |
You are maintaining two websites. The content may or may not be the same for mobile visitors. | You are maintaining one website. All visitors will have access to the same content. |
Search Engine Optimization | |
With a mobile site, you are maintaining a new domain, usually m.yourdomain.com. This will diminish both your organic search results and your the value you receive from links and referrals. | With responsive sites, everything is referenced related to your one domain. Links from referral sites will all be pointing to that domain and Google will be crawling one domain. This is Google's preferred approach. |
Future-ready | |
Because it's a different website, there may be a need to modify or rework the site in the future as new devices and new configurations evolve. | It is unlikely that a site using responsive design will need to be reworked as new devices come to market. |
According to a Pew Research study, 91% of American adults have cellphones, 55% have smartphones, 42% have tablets and 32% have e-readers. One of the most interesting statistics is that 34% of cell internet users mostly use their phones to access the web, not a laptop or desktop. Those are the people your website needs to be ready for!
To see a responsive site in action, just expand and contract the browser window for this website on your desktop or laptop. You will see the content adjusting to the size of the window.
